Neil Young

Neil Young is a football coach serving as the Manager of Marine Association Football Club . He has previously been associated with Altrincham, Cammell Laird 1907, Chester and FC Halifax Town during his career.

Young boasts an extensive football career with six promotions and three consecutive League Championships at Chester FC. His playing career ended at 24 due to injury, prompting him to start managing local clubs Queen’s Park and Poulton Victoria. He then became Assistant Manager at Rhyl in 2004, helping the club win the Welsh Cup in 2006 and qualify for UEFA competitions for three consecutive seasons. Neil moved to Cammell Laird as Joint Manager in 2007, leading the team to promotion to the Northern Premier League Premier Division. In 2008, he managed Colwyn Bay, achieving playoff success and promotion to the NPL Premier Division.

In summer 2010, Neil became the first manager of the newly formed Chester FC. Under his leadership, Chester FC achieved an unprecedented triple promotion, winning the NPL North, NPL Premier, and Conference North consecutively, breaking numerous records. He was named Conference North Manager of the Year in 2013 and received an Honorary Degree from the University of Chester. His career also included managerial roles at Stockport County and Altrincham, and he served as Head of Scouting and caretaker manager at FC Halifax Town until February 2018.

Neil joined Marine in September 2018, leading them to the FA Cup 3rd Round in 2021, promotion to the NPL Premier Division in 2022, and a Liverpool Senior Cup victory last season. He signed a contract extension to remain at the club until 2027.
