Darren Currie is a football coach serving as the Assistant Head Coach of Southend United Football Club . He has previously been associated with Barnet and Dagenham & Redbridge during his career.
A former professional footballer, Currie transitioned into management following his playing career. During his two decades as a player, he made over 600 appearances, notably for Barnet and Wycombe Wanderers, and also played for teams like Ipswich Town, Luton Town, and Chesterfield. His playing career concluded at Dagenham & Redbridge, where he briefly served as caretaker manager in 2015.
In 2018, Currie took on the managerial role at Barnet, a position he held until 2020. His tenure at Barnet was marked by significant achievements, including leading the team to the play-offs in his first season. Additionally, he guided Barnet to a commendable performance in the FA Cup, reaching the fourth round where they were narrowly defeated by Brentford.
