Poole Town Football Club, nicknamed “The Dolphins,” is a non-league football club based in Poole, Dorset.
Established in 1890, they currently compete in the Pitching In Southern Football League Premier South, which is part of the seventh tier of English football. The team calls Tatnam Ground their home ground.
The club’s highest league position was 16th in the Southern Premier League in 1966/67. Their best FA Cup run was reaching the 3rd Round proper against Everton in 1926, and they were runners-up in the Anglo-Italian Cup in 1981. They have won the Dorset Senior Cup 13 times, earning the original trophy after their fifth win in 1907, and were the first team to retain the Hampshire League Trophyman Cup in 1998 and 1999.
Their record attendance was 6,575 against Watford in an FA Cup replay at Poole Stadium in 1962/63, and 2,203 at Tatnam against Corby in 2014/15. The highest transfer fee paid was £5,000 for Nicky Dent in 1990, while the highest received was reportedly £180,000 for Charlie Austin to Swindon Town in 2009.
Record wins include an 11-0 away victory over Horndean in the Hampshire League and a 10-0 home win against Horndean in the Wessex League. Their heaviest defeats were an 8-1 away loss to East Cowes VA in the Hampshire League and a 5-1 home loss to Wimborne Town in the Wessex League.
