Larkhall Athletic Football Club, nicknamed “The Larks,” is a non-league football club based in Bath, Somerset.
They currently compete in the Pitching In Southern Football League Division One South, which is part of the eighth tier of English football. The team calls Plain Ham their home ground.
After regaining access to Plain Ham in 1951, the club steadily improved its facilities and status. By 2004, it achieved the status of Premier Club and in 2008 became the first FA Charter Standard Community Club in Bath, a recognition renewed in subsequent years. The ground saw numerous enhancements, including levelling of the pitch, extensions to the clubhouse, installation of floodlights, and comprehensive drainage work, largely funded by community support and grants. In 2005, the club purchased Plain Ham, marking a milestone in its infrastructure development.
The club’s facilities were continually upgraded to meet FA standards, with significant projects completed between 2010 and 2014, including new changing rooms, improved hospitality areas, and additional spectator amenities. These upgrades were often funded by the Football Stadia Improvement Fund and contributions from club supporters. In 2014, the club celebrated its centenary with several events and on-field successes, including multiple league championships and notable runs in the FA Vase and FA Cup. The first team achieved promotion to the Southern League in 2014, followed by a strong debut season.
Larkhall Athletic’s recent achievements include top-half finishes in the Southern League Division 1 South and West, notable FA Cup runs, and reaching the Somerset FA Premier Cup final for the first time. The Reserves and Ladies teams also enjoyed success, with the latter retaining the Somerset FA Senior Cup. The club received several accolades, such as BANES Club of the Year in 2008, and multiple awards from the Somerset FA. As the club enters its second decade in the Southern League, it continues to build on its rich history and warmly welcomes visitors to the Securitas Stadium.
