Helston Athletic Football Club, nicknamed “The Blues,” is a non-league football club based in Helston, Cornwall.
Established in 1896, they currently compete in the Pitching In Southern Football League Division One South, which is part of the eighth tier of English football. The team calls Kellaway Park their home ground.
Initially competing in the South Western League, the club faced relegation to the Cornwall Combination in 1972. They remained there until securing promotion to the South West Peninsula League Division One West in 2011 and advancing to the Premier Division in 2015.
Throughout its history, Helston Athletic has accumulated numerous honors. They were champions of the South West Peninsula League Division One West in 2014-15 and runners-up in 2011-12 and 2012-13. The club won the Cornwall Combination League four times and the Trelawny League Division 1 in 2016-17. They also achieved victories in various veteran, junior, and women’s leagues, demonstrating a strong presence across multiple competitions. Significant achievements include winning the Cornwall Senior Cup in 1936-37 and being runners-up in 2012-13, as well as multiple victories in the Cornwall Charity Cup during the late 1930s and early 1960s.
Helston Athletic’s consistent success is further highlighted by their recent victories in the 2021-22 season, where they won several league and cup titles across different divisions, including the Cornwall Combination League, Cornwall Veterans League, Cornwall Women’s Cup, and the Cornwall Sunday Cup.
