The Woods

Northwood Football Club, nicknamed “The Woods,” is a non-league football club based in Northwood, Hillingdon.

Established in 1926, they currently compete in the Pitching In Southern Football League Division One Central, which is part of the eighth tier of English football. The team calls Northwood Park their home ground.

Northwood FC, established in 1926 as Northwood United, evolved from earlier local teams dating back to 1899. Initially playing friendlies, they joined the Harrow & District League in 1928 and quickly achieved success, dominating the league in the 1930s. Post-World War II, the club, now known as Northwood FC, continued to excel in local football, winning multiple championships and cups.

In the 1970s, Northwood joined the Middlesex League and then the Hellenic League, securing rapid promotions and cup victories. The 1980s saw a transition to the London Spartan League, where they remained successful, leading to a promotion to the Isthmian League in the 1990s. Here, they won the Isthmian League Cup and achieved further promotions.

The 2000s brought challenges, including a stint in the Southern League Premier Division and their first senior football relegation. However, they also won their first Middlesex Senior Cup during this period. Northwood FC has been notable for its resilience, adaptability, and commitment to local and youth football. The club’s match day program has received widespread acclaim, winning several awards and consistently recognized for its quality.
