Walsall Wood Community Football Club, nicknamed “The Wood,” is a non-league football club based in Walsall Wood, West Midlands.
Established in 1915, they currently compete in the Pitching In Northern Premier League Division One Midlands, which is part of the eighth tier of English football. The team calls Oak Park their home ground.
The club, originally known as Walsall Wood Ebenezer Primitive Methodists, was formed in the early 20th century, with records dating back to 1915. Named after a local Methodist chapel, they were one of the strongest non-league teams in the region during the inter-war years, winning the Walsall Senior Cup in 1923 and the Walsall Senior League in 1946 and 1947. Joining the Worcestershire Combination in 1951, they won the championship in their first season and were runners-up five times in the following decade. In 1982, a merger with Walsall Sportsco created Walsall Borough F.C., but they reverted to Walsall Wood in 1986.
In 1992, Walsall Wood briefly joined the Staffordshire Senior League before moving to the West Midlands (Regional) League, where they quickly gained promotion to the Premier Division. After a relegation in 2000, an appeal saw them reinstated. Due to league boundary changes in 2006, they returned to the Midland Combination. They won the Midland Combination Premier Division in the 2012–13 season, securing promotion to the Midland Football Alliance and reaching the FA Vase quarter-finals. However, they were relegated to the Midland League Division One at the end of the 2016–17 season.
Under Gary Birch in the 2017–18 season, Walsall Wood experienced a highly successful campaign, winning the MFL Division One title and the MFL League Cup, while also finishing as runners-up in the Walsall Senior Cup. They were promoted to step 4 of the National League System in the 2022–23 season, achieving their first MFL Premier Division championship. In October 2023, Ian Long replaced Harry Harris as manager. In the 2023–24 season, the club participated in the FA Trophy for the first time, reaching the third round but losing 2-0 to Coalville Town after the tie was reversed due to postponements.
Walsall Wood Community Football Club is a registered company in England and Wales under company number 06888747 .
