Maldon & Tiptree Football Club, nicknamed “The Jammers,” is a non-league football club based in Maldon, Essex.
Established in 2010, they currently compete in the Pitching In Isthmian League North Division, which is part of the eighth tier of English football. The team calls Wallace Binder Ground their home ground.
Maldon & Tiptree FC was formed in 2010 from the merger of Maldon Town and Tiptree United, under the ownership of Ed Garty. Initially competing in the Isthmian Division One North, the club experienced fluctuating fortunes with multiple managerial changes in its early years. Notable appointments included Mike Flanagan and Terry Spillane, with the latter guiding the team to the playoff finals in the 2012-13 season. Subsequent years saw Alan Kimble and then Kevin Horlock at the helm, with Horlock achieving a second-place finish and another narrow playoff final loss.
The 2019-20 season marked a high point for the club, as it enjoyed a remarkable FA Cup run, defeating League Two Leyton Orient and earning a televised home match against Newport County, which set a record attendance for Park Drive. Despite leading their division when the season was voided due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the club was denied promotion. Following Ed Garty’s departure in 2020, leadership changes continued with several managerial switches, while the club again reached the FA Cup First Round in the subsequent season but faced early termination of league activities.
In recent years, the club witnessed further management instability, with Peter Taylor and later Jamie Cureton joining the coaching staff. Despite these changes, the club managed to avoid relegation in the 2022-23 season. Liam Bailey assumed permanent managerial duties in 2023, with Cureton becoming his assistant.
