Oldham Athletic Football Club, nicknamed “The Latics,” is a non-league football club based in Oldham, Greater Manchester.
Established in 1895, they currently compete in the Vanarama National League, which is part of the fifth tier of English football. The team calls Boundary Park their home ground.
Oldham Athletic, originally Pine Villa formed in 1895, rebranded in 1899. They achieved early success, finishing as First Division runners-up in 1914/15 and reaching the FA Cup semi-final in 1913. However, they lost top-flight status in 1923 and spent decades in lower divisions, with three championship wins under their belt.
The club experienced highs, including founding membership in the Premier League and a Littlewoods Cup final appearance in 1990, and lows like financial struggles leading to administration in 2003. Stability returned with new ownership, including a takeover by local businessman Frank Rothwell in 2022.
